Chinese Acupuncture!
Acupuncture is probably the best known alternative treatment. China has used this form for treatment in over a thousand years, and the treatment has in recent years become popular in the west as well. Acupuncture is used in the traditional Chinese health system, and is a mean of regulation of ”livskraften” der gennemstrømmer kroppen.
The acupuncture is based on a holistic philosophy which means that it is to be viewed as a part of the overall picture. This goes for our bodies as well, and means that one part of the body cannot be functioning on its own, and needs to be put in context with the existing part of the body.
Acupuncture heals on all levels both physically, mentally and spiritually. As an acupuncturist I analyse the symptoms and try to establish the cause for the suffering or pains.
Meridians:
The body has an internal system which is called the meridians, which consist of a complicated setup. There are 12 organmeridians which has been named after the organ that they are related to. As an example there are meridians called the lungmeridian, the colon meridian, etc.
Each meridian and its organ consist of either a yin or yang energy. |

Yin and yang is key for the acupuncture and are two opposites, but yet they compliment eachother. As long as yin and yang are balanced we are healthy.
The balance between yin and yang is dynamic, which is what causes changes from time to time. This is what could cause illness and suffering. On the meridians there are approx. 500 acupuncture points, and of these the most common 100 are used. Each point has its own name, number and capacity.
Qi:
Qi (pronounced Chi) is constantly circulating through the body through the meridians. It supplies and provides nourishment to the body. We are born with a certain amount of qi, and as long as the qi flows through the meridians, the meridians and us stay alive. Through daily activityour qi decreased and is increased when we eat and breathe. We can therefore not control it 100% how we create and maintain our qi. Think about what you eat and drink, the air that you breathe, smoker or non-smoker, and make sure you breathe and inhale properly. Think about how you feel. Think positively about yourself and you surroundings, and make an effort to expres all you emotions – Remember to laugh, be mad, cry, and dance when you feel like it.
The conditions for a good health is to allow the energy to flow through the meridians.

Sickness and suffering arise if the circulation is blocked in one or different parts of the body. This brings the energy out of balance. By using the acupuncturepoints the energyflow is affected by the use of needles and is corrected. This brings the body back in balance.
Treatment
Acupuncture is used for both acute and cronical pains, and also for painrelief and to prevent pain.
WHO – World Health Organisation has created a list of different pains and illnesses where acupuncture is very affective. The list includes artheritis, headache, migraine, backpains, tennisalboue, period pains, diarrea, incongestion and sinusitis.
Affect
The reaction of an acupuncture treatment will vary from person to person. It can be anything from complete relaxation to itching of the body. It is common after the first few treatments to feel tired, but the reaction could also an energy boost and wellbeing. With acupuncture it is nature it self that heals. The needles simply disolve the blockage and stimultates the energy that flows through our body. Through acupuncturethe body heals itself and creates space for your own energy.
